Hello there! My name is Lynne and I'm a senior at the lovely Longwood University. Over the course of my college career at Longwood, I've joined a few organizations. One of them being Longwood Ambassadors, which means I get to lead prospective students on tours and tell them all the wonderful things Longwood has to offer (and look snazzy in a blue polo and khaki pants while doing it!) Some of my favorite things to do on campus include eating with my friends at the dining hall or longboarding around Brock Commons. This year, I'm just trying to soak up all of the goodness of college before I graduate in the spring.

Here we go

A new wave of Longwood students enter the school as I prepare to leave. I’m not sure what is making me so sentimental. Besides the fact that I only have a few months to go before I graduate. However, searching for jobs and new places to live has¬†definitively¬†opened my eyes to how fortunate I am to have attended Longwood for the past four years. When I first started my career as a college student, I planned on becoming an elementary school teacher. I wanted to enrich children’s lives, get a house back home and adopt as many dogs as I could afford. After my student observations of an elementary school teacher freshman year, I am wary of an elementary school setting. Children would hit, yell and scream at one another. One child would devour a crayon as though it were an expensive delicacy. Kids would wipe their noses on my pants(ew) and I would have to control my impulse to scream. Entering my senior year, I’m a communication studies major with a plethora of possibilities of where I can go after I graduate. I’m excited to tackle my last semester of classes and enjoy the time I have left with friends. By no means am I in a rush to leave Longwood, but I can tell I’m going to miss it already.

Not ready for graduation quite yet
