I am a senior at Longwood University, with a Liberal Studies (Elementary Education) major and a Children's Literature minor. I am a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma and live in Stubbs Dormatory on campus. I grew up in Northern Virginia and have lived in the same house for my entire life. I am the youngest of three girls and have a terror of a dog. I like to read classic books, my favorite being Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and listen to all kinds of music.

Student Union

So I’m sitting here, eating sushi and munching on chips and it made me want to tell you about food here at longwood. This is kind of a silly thing to blog about, but you honestly do not realize how much it impacts you.

The dinning hall is getting better, we now have brick oven pizza…they’re just working on how to use the oven, but its better than before! We have vegetarian and gluten free and other special needs options. There is a cereal bar which may be the best thing ever created. And of course the panini station, home cooked station, pasta station, and salad bars. Oh and the dessert bar is pretty good most of the time…especially when the cookies are warm and soft…yum.

The other main place to eat on campus is at the student union. Currently there is a sushi place, a bagel place, and a pizza place. It also has a mini seven eleven type store with cereal and some dorm room needs like paper towels and toilet paper. The store is pretty expensive compared to Walmart so i only use it when I am really running low on something or want a granola bar.

Overall the food here is not bad, but I can not wait for Spring Break, which starts on Friday, so I can eat a home-cooked meal. I recently gave up fast food and realized there is NO other food to eat in Farmville. We have moes and chick-fil-a which you can use your bonus dollars at, and then almost every fast food restaurant you can think of. We have three “legitimate” restaurants that aren’t super sketchy. We have Applebees, Ruby Tuesdays and Charlies Waterfront Cafe. Other then that you have to travels to Lynchburg, Chesterfield or Richmond, which are all about an hour away, to get decent food off campus.

If you have any questions of course let me know,

In the Blue and White Spirit,
