This is my second week in my partnership classroom. I am in a first grade class, but I’m not going to give anymore information just for confidentiality purposes. I am really enjoying observing and reflecting on the teaching of reading and writing. All of the students are on different levels of reading and writing which is something that I am nervous about when it is my turn to be providing instruction. Differentiated instruction to different levels seems easy enough and is proven to work, but many teachers do not teach this way which makes me wonder if it really is more difficult that it seems.
For partnership I have to tutor a student in reading, and I have mine picked out and I’m really excited to start working with the student that my cooperating teacher and I chose. Next week I start the students pre-assessments, which means I see where the students instructional level is.
My teacher and I also discussed what my teacher work sample (TWS) will be on. I get to teach animals and life processes in mid-march. I am really excited because I enjoy science and I can not wait to start writing my lesson plans to keep the students engaged.
While I am enjoying being in the classroom, I am exhausted. Sorority recruitment was this past weekend, so I am just now catching up on this weeks reading and it is Thursday. On the bright side, Tri-Sigma got 20 wonderful new members and their first ceremony is tonight…I’m looking forward to the weekend for some rest.
