“Longwood University has named W. Taylor Reveley IV as its new president, for a term to begin June 1 and run through at least 2018. The Longwood Board of Visitors voted unanimously today, Saturday, March 23, following a nine-month national search.”
This is an exert from a Longwood Press Release from earlier this week. During my time here at Longwood there have been multiple presidents and president searches.
Patricia P. Cormier was the president when I was accepted and during my freshman year at Longwood. Brig. Gen. Patrick Finnegan succeeded Cormier after an intense search. Pfinn as we fondly called him, had to step down after a few short years because of illness. At this time Marge Connely is the interim president, and just recently I found out who will be the president for the rest of my time here at longwood.
I think that having a president that is committed to our school is important. I will say that I am excited about President Reveley even though I did not have a chance to go to any of his candidate speeches or publicity speeches since he was elected. I think that his history with Longwood will help him get to know the students and do what is best for my alma mater.
In the blue and white spirit,
Congratulations to our new president, W. Taylor Reveley IV!
