You gotta love them. You gotta not love them also. I’m watching C-SPAN currently and I am amazed at this discussion. I find it interesting what Congress has come to nowadays. With the rise of a constant media outlet where we can actually watch our senators and representatives really opens things up. It gives the American people a real look into the government. And I’m not really impressed.
I’ve watched C-SPAN many times before; I’ve just now decided to write about it so you can be forced to hear my opinion. Right now, the argument on the floor is regarding an extension of federal FAA programs. It’s a very large partisan bills with democrats not supporting it while the majority of GOP members do.
The bill extends measures already in place for the FAA, but also makes their programs larger by destroying collective bargaining rights and making the American worker “the bad guy” according to Massachusetts Rep. Jim McGovern (D).
Congress bickers like an old married couple. The GOP can be the old man, since most of them are, and the dems are the fraigle old lady who is sit in her ways. Imagine that for a few minutes. Okay, hope you’re done.
The consensus among many American people is that Congress doesn’t care much about constituents. While that might be so, they do want to get elected. They do want to be seen out in the public doing something (preferably good). But the American people want to see more. They don’t want to hear that Florida Rep. Daniel Webster (R)’s 7th granddaughter believes “just like every other American” that this bill needs to be passed.
Give me a break, Congress. Get done to business and stop beating around the bush. Maybe you could get more done with that.
