I am from the rural dirt roads of Botetourt County, Virginia. I choose Longwood because of its size and friendly atmosphere. I am heavily involved in my school and community both here in Farmville and back home in Eagle Rock, Virginia.

I serve as News Editor for The Rotunda, the student newspaper here on campus, and have been writing for the paper since March 2009. I am also a Sergeant-At-Arms for the Longwood University Judicial Board. I have spent this summer discovering the world of online freelance journalism and have quite enjoyed myself.

Country Comfort

When multiple things mean the same, we call them synonyms. Country Comfort is not just an Elton John song. It appeals to anyone interested in their own delicious plate of foods from the south meant for comforting.

Tonight chicken and dumplings was able to fulfill that void in our stomachs. It’s not that hard; just take a chicken and let him boil in the crock pot. Add some dumplings (barely cooked biscuits) and gravy (and rice) and call it a meal. Nothing beats it when you’re away from home like me and craving some good ‘ol country cooking.

When you’re at college, sometimes it is difficult to find a way to cook a meal that can remind you of home. And what better time to do that when you were at home a week ago today? This kind of food gets you prepared for the rest of the semester.

So if you’re a country boy like me, you might find this recipe to come in handy while you’re at college.
