I am from the rural dirt roads of Botetourt County, Virginia. I choose Longwood because of its size and friendly atmosphere. I am heavily involved in my school and community both here in Farmville and back home in Eagle Rock, Virginia.

I serve as News Editor for The Rotunda, the student newspaper here on campus, and have been writing for the paper since March 2009. I am also a Sergeant-At-Arms for the Longwood University Judicial Board. I have spent this summer discovering the world of online freelance journalism and have quite enjoyed myself.

My Last Speech!

Very excited.

That’s how I feel. The end to a great weekend equals the end to the last speech I have to make in Public Speaking. In just 10 hours, I’ll be done with any major assignment in that class. While I’ve enjoyed the experience, I must say it has been rather time consuming. It’s a lot of busy work, but I do confess that I have learned a great deal from said busy work.

I’ve been speaking publicly every since elementary school when I was Student Council Association president. Of course, my vernacular has improved a tad bit since then and hopefully I’m a little more confident in my ability. I love to make presentations, but I always have the innate fear of clamming up and forgetting my own name. Hasn’t happened yet and I hope I can make it through my last speech still being able to hold that record. Even if it’s not a very prestigious record.

And what’s even better than being able to finish something like this BEFORE Thanksgiving Break? Having a paper pushed back until the day I return. Oh, it’s a 15 page one … and I’ve committed the collegiate sin of procrastination. Shame on me.
