I am from the rural dirt roads of Botetourt County, Virginia. I choose Longwood because of its size and friendly atmosphere. I am heavily involved in my school and community both here in Farmville and back home in Eagle Rock, Virginia.

I serve as News Editor for The Rotunda, the student newspaper here on campus, and have been writing for the paper since March 2009. I am also a Sergeant-At-Arms for the Longwood University Judicial Board. I have spent this summer discovering the world of online freelance journalism and have quite enjoyed myself.

CBS at 3 a.m.

That’s what it is. It’s late. It’s 3 a.m. I am still up. But the record this week goes to Wednesday morning. The Rotunda was still being conceived until about 3:45 a.m., leaving me with about three and a half hours of rest before waking up Wednesday. That seemed like a long day. In fact, this week has seemed pretty long to me.

I had this grand plan to post at least 4 blog posts this week. Four. If you’ve been paying attention, you probably have noticed how that has turned out. Not so good. In fact, this is just number one this week. Shame. Shame on me.

I guess the proper thing to do at 3 a.m. while I’m writing this, after just finishing a paper, while watching CBS’s up-to-the-minute newscast program (which I didn’t even know existed), is to simply tell you about my week.

The last time we talked was Friday, so I’ll start there.

Saturday: The day started early-8 a.m.-for Peer Mentor interviews. I felt productive though as I got a lot of work done. Saturday night included a surprise. Literally. I was under the impression Macado’s was in the plan for my birthday celebration (I just turned 21 on the 17th). Instead, it was a party at a friend’s apartment with some of the best people I know. It was a huge surprise to walk in, just expecting desert and a drink, and find that. Never have I had a real birthday party before and I truly thank everyone involved.

Sunday: A day of work, not rest. It was simply too much to do that hadn’t been done yet. I had the usual Rotunda meeting and got a lot accomplished there.

Monday: Class for the majority of the day and editing a few stories that came into our Rotunda e-mail. Had Mortar Board Monday night where I ran for, and won, Webmaster. Very excited about that!

Tuesday: Very long day it seemed. Tuesday felt a lot like Thursday for some odd reason. Anyway, Tuesday, as usual, was a Rotunda day. Lots of editing and lots of e-mail usage. I had a blast and had some great pizza.

Wednesday: Tried to get a haircut, but my shop was closed! We’re doing this tomorrow I believe. Didn’t get a nap in, and got even less work done. I had meetings and so much to do. I helped Nicole with a project due Thursday and it took longer than we expected. Bedtime was 1 a.m., but still too late for being up so late Tuesday night.

Thursday: Had a lot of reading to get out of the way. Also had The Rotunda general meeting and DASH meeting today. Saw some new people at each event! And I found out I got Peer Mentor! SO EXCITING!

Friday (so far): Finished two and a half papers today. Had to. And I didn’t procrastinate, it was just something that had to wait. I hope they all turn out well!I’ve watched more news today so far than I’ve watched all week. This feels good to catch up on the world so fully in such a short time. I got my blog post done too (the one you are reading). And now it’s time to go to bed. I’m so tired and I can’t wait to be refreshed when I wake up. Good night and I will be sure to give you a Friday update….zzzzz….zzzzz…
