What is up, blogland!? You will have to excuse my overly perky self, but I just love Halloween! I had to wait for more festivities to occur before I could make my real post of the week, but man… what a post this is gonna be!
So, full disclosure here, I have THREE costumes. I LOVE dressing up for Halloween, what can I say? It’s like the world’s chance to play dress up and have fun with it!
So yeah, I am so active getting ready for Halloween. I went to the most amazing Longwood Halloween tradition: Dr. Jordan’s Ghost Stories and bonfire! Now, as a member of the Cormier Honors College, I heard many of these stories before both on my own freshman retreat and on the retreat I mentored for, but Dr. Jordan’s fantastic storytelling and subtle changes with every telling STILL kept me on the edge of my seat! There’s a good reason people call him the rock star of the Longwood professor world!
After the stories, I went out to the bonfire in Iler Field, drank some delicious but super hot cranberry apple cider, ate cookies, and sat and talked with my friends from anime club until long after they put the fire out. Haha, we were having so much fun!
Later in the week, it was time for the Anime Club’s Happy Otaku Halloween Party. I can’t even describe how much fun it was to joke around, wear costumes, sing amusing songs, chat with our fellow anime fans, and eat the delicious pasta salad. I really love Wednesday nights; the Anime Club is such a funny, friendly, quirky addition to my week!
Today (Okay, technically yesterday because it’s after midnight as I write this) was the very first annual Longwood costume contest. I met some super cool and nice new people, many of whom were in amazing and fun costumes, and while I did not win any of the categories as my wench, I do not regret going in the least. Plus, Dr. Jordan was a great MC. (He sure is the man of the hour!)
Coming up tomorrow is a pumpkin carving party with some friends and then I’m hanging out with friends all evening. Sunday, the Honors College is going to a fancy dessert reception with Brigadier General Finnegan, and then… well, work, work, work!
So yes, blogland, you will have plenty to celebrate around Halloween here at Longwood. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Regular Tuesday update schedule returns this week just before I go on an Anthropology trip… with Dr. Jordan, of course (Yet again)! Hehe! It should be fun, our Honors Anth 101 class is doing a dig on the Longwood farm. Later, peace out, and PLEASE, be safe this weekend!
