Hey world, I’m Averill! Some of you already know me from my blog last year, while others probably just found me! To both groups, welcome! This is my second year blogging and my third year at Longwood University. I’m an English major with a concentration in secondary education, which is a fancy way of saying I really want to teach high school English! I’m active in the Honors College, the Anime Club, and am usually somewhere around campus just hanging out or doing whatever needs to be done. Enjoy the blog!

Longwood Fashion!

So, blogland, I never promised to be the queen of fashion. Farmville is not the seat of haute couture. In fact, my fashion sense is a bit quirky. Not Lady Gaga quirky, but an odd blend of prep, nerd, and punk rock fashion. I like it, though.

So I know our newspaper, The Rotunda, has a section on fashion here at Longwood, but I figured I’d just bite the bullet and talk about something a bit unusual for a student blog: What are we wearing!?

First off, I suppose you all need to know about my own preferences. I’m a big fan of peacoats, scarves, fedoras, and of course hoodies. I also wear band tee shirts of many of my favorite rock bands, nice shirts, jeans, and my black boots I got from Old Navy for cheap because they’re super comfortable. I also have some really quirky pieces of my wardrobe, but they don’t frequently see the light of day.

Anyway, I have noticed recently that peacoats are so popular. My own purple one has gotten a ton of compliments (which surprises me, but not in a bad way) recently and a load of my friends have and wear them now. They look really classy and attractive, though, and they are really warm, so I can see why people like them.

Of course, cold weather fashion wouldn’t be cold weather fashion without Longwood hoodies and sweatpants, which I also see all around campus. Scarves, both Longwood and otherwise, are also all over. I love them, though.

I also see a lot of boots. Now during warmer weathers, I don’t support the whole fleece Ugg boot style, but warm boots in the winter are awesome, no doubt. I just think shorts and warm boots make you look confused.

I’ve noticed a lot less of the whole silly band fad, which makes me happy because they’re… well… silly. That’s good. I do have one thing I have noticed here and there and that’s that some people are wearing shorts or skirts in this weather. Huh!?

Anyway, in regards to my classes, they all look good so far and I have friends in all of my classes, so I am fortunate this semester.

Sorry to blog and run, guys, but I have homework to get to! I’m going out of town this weekend to see Scott (It’s his birthday Thursday) and I wanna be ahead of things.

Time to put my nose in a book!
